According to Vastu shastra for a home, a staircase must be built in the Southern or Western part of the house to bring good health and prosperity. The stairs should begin from the north towards the south and east towards the west. A staircase in any corner except west or south brings losses. Vastu has some norms scripted for the staircase which must be followed for a successful and healthy life.

  • When it comes to stairs, always make sure there's an odd number of them. For example, 9, 11, 13, or 15. And the numbers should never end in zero.

To encourage a sense of positivity and forward momentum in your life, it's best to paint your staircase in light or pastel colors like pink, yellow, off-white, or blue. Red and black are colors that bring negative energy, so it's best to avoid them completely.
