five elements of vastu:-

The Whole Universe is a combination of five basic elements; these five elements are Earth, Space, Air, Fire, and Water. Earth provides shape and fragrance to our body; space produces sound in the body; Air provides the feeling of touch; Fire provides heat and hunger, and water supports blood and other fluids in the body. These five elements play an integral role in defining the Vastu of a house as well.

EARTH: (Prithvi) Magnetic Field
Earth is the first element of Vastu. Earth or Prithvi influence human lives as it has magnetic qualities. There is a magnetic attraction between the North Pole and the South Pole of earth. The gravitation law of earth also affects living and non – living things and materials.

WATER: (Jal) Gravitation
Water or Jal is taken into account because of the second most vital element of Vastu after Earth. However, water is one of the largest elements of nature as over 80 percent of our body and two-third of the earth’s surface is filled with water. Water placement should be in the right direction at the home. We can make water element favorable to us storing clear water in the right direction in our premises by placing boring, the underground water tank and overhead water tank at the right place and providing the right way for an outlet.

AIR: (Vaayu) Wind Energy

Air or Vaayu is an important element of nature, without which all life will come to an end. The element of air is related to our senses of touch and sound. This element has a proper direction in Vastu, which is north-west direction. Air comprises various gases on earth which are essential for human life, such as oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and carbon dioxide. Vastu provides proper guidelines for the placements of doors, windows, balconies, ventilation, height of your home structure and placements of trees and plants. According to Vastu the air should enter the house from north-east direction. The North East direction of a building produced ultra violet and good rays.

The fire sources like kitchen fire and electrical equipment should be placed in SOUTH-EAST direction to get positive energy as well as benefits.

SPACE: (Aakash) Cosmic Radiation

Space or Akash has no limits. This element is related to our sense of hearing. space is filled with galaxies, stars, Sun, moon, constellations and all the nine planets. Space influences human lives and Vastu provides proper guidelines for Space and according to it, any construction should be in such a way that light enters in the central area of the area. This Space should be kept vacant in a house and any disturbance in the space can prove to be harmful.

vastu purursha mandala

According to Hindu mythology, in the beginning, Brahma, the creator of the Universe, experimented with the creation of a replacement creature. He created an outsized cosmic man, who grew rapidly as he began to devour everything in his path to satisfy his insatiable hunger. When he became so big that his shadow fell on the world creating a permanent eclipse, the god's Shiva and Vishnu begged Brahma to try to do something initially was destroyed by this Creature Brahma realized his mistake and called the Astha Dikapalakas, the Gods of the eight cardinal directions. Together, they overpowered the monster and held it flat against the earth. Then Brahma jumped in the middle and held the monster down. Then the Monster cried You created me like this. So why am I being punished? Brahma offered him a compromise and made the Monster immortal with the boon that he would be worshiped by any mortal that builds a structure on earth. He was named Vastu Purusha. Vastu Shastra gives the directive principles regarding the development of buildings so as to not displease the Vastu Purusha. These principles are explained with the assistance of the diagram called the Vastu Purusha Mandala.

About

In Order to understand Vastu Shastra, It is necessary to understand the Vastu Purush Mandala, which is an energy grid of squares. The Vastu Purusha Mandala is the basic form of architecture. Vastu Purusha is present in each and every plot or land, it has a fixed body structure, its head remains hanging down and body is spread all over the length and breadth of the land or plot as below mention figure.

The 45 gods in Vastu Purusha mandala as the diagram shown below is the Vastu Purusha Mandala, how the Vastu Purusha pointed down by 44 gods and Brahma, face down with his head to the North-East and his feet towards the South-West, The diagram is divided into 9×9 = 81 parts. The positions of the 45 gods (32 in the external enclosures and 13 in the internal enclosures) who are holding down the Vastu Purusha are shown. These symbolic Gods rule various aspects of life and have certain inherent qualities. Vastu shastra describe 45 powers working as devas and asuras in a built space. It guides us to keep these 45 powers in perfect balance in any place of construction in order to achieve good and positive results in life.

The function of the rooms placed in each area of the house was according to the nature of the deity ruling that particular area. According to Vastu Shastra, if the house is designed as per the Vastu Purusha Mandala, a perfectly balanced environment that ensures enhanced health, wealth, and happiness is created because the ancient Vaastu pundits figured out that when the different rooms were placed according to the Vastu Mandala, a good disposition to the Sun, proper ventilation and lighting and privacy would be ensured.

Humans perform different activities depending on the time of the day. The ancient Vastu pundits divided the 24 hours into eight parts, representing the eight cardinal directions. They designed and oriented various rooms of a house towards the Eight cardinal directions, such that at any given time of the day depending on the activity, the inmates were able to get the useful rays of the Sun, according to the position of the sun through the day.
